Here’s a recipe for those who can’t find them:

Wash a large apple. Using a melon baller, extract balls of apple. Place in a bowl and sprinkle with lemon juice.

Wash a large apple. Place in a bowl and sprinkle with lemon juice.

Prepare a dipping station (mini-cupcake papers), also have a bowl of crushed nuts (peanuts in this case) and a bowl of warmed caramel apple dip.

Carefully spear each ball of apple through the ROUND end. Keep the flat end on the bottom, so they stand upright. Using a paper towel, blot off the excess lemon juice. This is important- if the apple has too much juice left on it, the caramel won’t stick.

Dip the apple in the caramel, using a twirling motion to coat it.

Transfer the apple to the nuts and roll.

Stand the apples upright in the cups and let them chill in the fridge to solidify. Cute and addictive!

Enjoy

I cut on soda the past week, today I decided to have a 7-up with everyone else, apparently we found some gifts in our sodas… guess which restaurant!
Complained on the phone, and got new sodas instead (that we threw in the garbage), the ants were in the ice cubes.

Once you’re inside, on the table and placed your order, your dinner starts off with the server bringing out a bread basket and small plate of dry toasted garlic flakes then pours olive oil and balsamic vinegar over it. It’s really hard to not to eat too much bread before your meal because it tastes so good and the bread is usually hot and fresh which makes a great starter to eat.

Now, sadly I wasn’t too hungry neither my friend Ekova, so we had Appetizers only. We ordered 2 hand-breaded Calamari dishes and 2 diet cokes.

You think it would be your typical battered and fried calamari… HAHAHA! hell no! It is perfectly done, not a little bit oily and whenever you order it, delivers hot and served with a marinara sauce that you’d love to dip your fingers in and lick them afterward. I’ve tried calamari in different countries and different restaurants, however at Carino’s it is always better, tastier and different. The best I’ve had so far.

I recommend it to everyone around.

*The hand-breaded calamari goes for 3.400 KD and for around 600 Fils, so you can have a nice quick meal for around 4 KD (10 JD).

Carino’s in Kuwait is located right after Layali Al-Helmeyya cafe on the gulf road.
