This summer have been absolutely crazy for me. I didn’t think it was possible to work that much and still remain sane (from time to time). Now I’ve gotten myself sick. That’s what stress does to you, it weakens your immune system with the great help of Ramadan in messing your life schedule upside down.

What I really hate about this is stress, which usually sucks the creativity out of you. Stress is NOT a good thing. There is good stress. Yes it’s usually referred to as – drive or adrenaline. Stress is not good, it puts you into a constant state of panic and worry, which is not natural.

I hate the flu, please! not in the summer!

Anyways… this blabbering, is probably a waste of time, so let me get straight to the point, I’m leaving the office next week. I hope you enjoy a massive eid, celebrate it with your family.

I’m not coming back to Kuwait, not anytime next year. but If I ever do, please miss me. I hate leaving a place that I got attached to.. the fact that I have to say goodbye to people is hard! but life goes on

This a little thing I wrote for my work colleagues:

I feel lucky because I had the chance to meet all of you in this lifetime. It was extraordinary, and still is. If I did anything wrong, I’m sorry. Thank you for coming into my life, and letting me enjoy my life a little bit more with your company and friendship. I feel so grateful for the chance to work at Leo. I really want to thank everyone for the good times, bad times and the fun. I will miss you guys, I hope that I get the chance to see/work you once I graduate, maybe next year? nobody knows

Wish you guys the best with the best of luck with your clients

VIVA, The 3rd telecom in Kuwait celebrated its launch yesterday.

Kuwait Telecom Company (KTC) has inaugurated its commercial brand, Viva, which represents transparency and commitment towards clients. It will focus on offering advanced and integrated client service once it is launched in the Kuwaiti market. This was announced at a press conference held recently by Saudi Telecom Company’s CEO Mr. Saud Bin Majed Al-Duwaish and VIVA’s CEO Najeeb Al-Awadi.

Mr. Al-Duwaish gave a statement at the conference in which he spoke highly of the enormous success made by the company, which proudly became operational, built its network and finished staff recruitment in a record time, stressing that this was considered a grand achievement following the acquisition of the Third License in November 2007 and becoming operational within in no more than 10 months.

He said we are ready today to launch VIVA, which we trust will add a new meaningful value to the telecom market in Kuwait through diversified outstanding services. He welcomed Mr. Najeeb Al-Awadi, who had been chosen CEO to VIVA based on his extensive valuable expertise. Mr. Al-Awadi took it upon himself to fulfill the Company’s future aspirations in encouraging promising Kuwaiti youths to join in for brilliant professional careers in telecommunications, he added.

He pointed out that Al-Awadi spent 10 out of his 15-year experience setting up two leading telecommunications companies in the region and watching them bloom into world-standard telecom platforms. He was also general manager of a very well known International Networks Company for five years, where he built an expansive telecommunications network, he added, stressing that Al-Awadi set down an exemplary model for diligence, innovation and leadership.

More on MENA Report.

I hope they make difference!

It is hard when you work on a brand, that is related to women and will be expanded to some countries with restrictions, such as Saudi Arabia.

According to Hani Alireza, “There are certain things about Saudi Arabia that really make it seem out of this world.” I do not personally see it out of world, I see it weird and do not have a strong background.

Advertising wise, women are not allowed to drive or be illustrated driving cars (so this is one, cars advertisements die here). Shops close five times a day for prayer time (at least 15-20 minutes everytime so you can’t promote open all-time), you can’t advertise smoking, movies, alcohol or have nice restaurant visuals, unless you do them indoor and no faces, of course restaurants have two different sections (no, not smoking or non-smoking…): one for families and a section for single men.

Hani also says: In outdoor adverting showing the faces of people within ads is problematic because of its link to aniconism and the fear of idolatry (meaning that it is prohibited to graphically represent figures of people or animals). So in order to deal with this notion the solution most commonly used is to pixelate the eyes or cover them entirely. In previous years another solution used to tackle aniconism in school books was to draw a line across the necks in illustrations of humans and animals.

So, according to this… how do you actually advertise a make-up store? or clothing? or even charity… I wonder!

Here’s something I did to Madonna’s CD Cover (god forgive me!)…

I think I need to put some neqab or hijab on her head and maybe blur her eyes and hide a bit of her neck, thinking of it again… the clothes are too tight maybe she’d look better in an abaya!
