Been a while since I posted anything. Nothing is happening also!

I’ve been around new people recently and something crossed my mind… Why do people compare their lives? Especially the difficulties?

“My life is tougher than yours. I have more problems than you so I’m more miserable.”

Seriously, I wonder if misery can actually be quantified? I sympathize with another person’s difficulties but to say

Oh my god! you are suffering so much!

No, I can’t do that.

At one point in life, even a paper-cut felt like it was the end of the world to me. It hurt like hell! Now, it feels like nothing. My troubles would seem like nothing to someone else. How is it that you know the agony the other person faces in life? I don’t make comparisons. Everyone should face their problems the way they can handle it, just don’t quantify the pain. What is not painful to you might be excruciating for the other!

As my and your “mothers” say… count them blessings!

I think even if people don’t compare lives and problems and misery out loud then they do it benhom w bain 7alhom. No one seems to be winning when it comes to happiness and the easy life, and as humans we always wana win at something, so nowadays people consider it a competition, whose life sucks most. It’s one thing to think about this stuff inside your head, but it’s another discussing it with people. Dealing with people is getting so hard isn’t it?

I reckon it’s either:

– people in our society enjoy others pity them so much..

– if you start to unwittingly complain about something, they directly complain about their issues and tough situations to imply: “PLEASE SHUT UP! we don’t want to listen!”

advise: if it is the second scenario, then just reply: “you look so happy for someone has such problems!” ..

so many people aren’t feeling secure enough…they try their best to get people’s attention and this way seems to be working. no one’s life is even close to perfect, and as u said, moey, your problem might not sound as painful as it is to you, but wouldn’t it be nice if a person had someone special next to him to complain and feel vulnerable?

It can’t be helped. Somehow, we always find ourselves competing with each other, even when it comes to pain and suffering. Not that it’s a good thing though…
The important thing is to look at the brighter side of the things, instead of focusing on the bad.
