A friend/regular blog reader sent me this comment, I think some Wi-Tribe official needs to explain…
Last year in August 20th I made a monthly subscription to wi-tribe 2.0M. Every 20th of the month my bill was due regardless when I paid it. When I made my subscription then, I asked to pay by credit card, and they told me sorry we do not have credit card payment systems yet. Imagine its 2009, and they’re in the tech business without credit card systems. But I could live with that. However, going every month to pay the bill on the 20th didn’t always work due to busy schedule. They were nice enough to give keep the account active till the 27th, sometimes I was able to pay before it got disconnect sometimes after.
Don’t jump the gun, some of you would think why not pay quarterly or yearly and avoid the monthly hassle drive to Mecca mall. Well, I guess when you trying a service from a company for the first time, and you’re being bombarded by other offers and speeds from other providers, you wan’na stay away from being tied down for a full year.
Anyways, later this year they upgraded their speeds and reduced their prices, the 1 became 1.5 and the 2.0 became 3.0mb from 48JD to 37JD.
My 3.0mb has been varying every since, I thought they switched me to dial-up or something. I’d call them almost every week, and all they had to say was put it next to the window, exactly where its been since last year.
Anyways, got really skeptic with the connection so when the 20th came I couldn’t be bothered to go pay. On the 13th of June, I was at mecca mall and since I needed the net, I decided what the heck and went to activate my account. The sales rep informed me that now they have credit card payments, which was a relief. The sales rep, also told me that my bill is 27JD, and when I asked him how come when its 37jd, he told me well there is 10jd’s from last month. Something till this day they were unable to give me a rational explanation for.
So I asked him if they take pre-paid credit cards, and he said yes, gave him my card, paid the 27 JD, signed the form for the upgrade, and that I wish to pay by credit card and headed home. Remember this was on June 13th.
On June 24th my account was disabled! They informed me that they do not accept prepaid credit cards and I need to visit the showroom. I called customer support and told them why in the first place are they trying to charge me on the 20th, when I paid on the 13th and she said that was last months bill. Lol the one in which I had 10jd from the month before. She said your subscription date is August 20th 2008, so the 20th of the month is your payment date. Here is where I got really skeptic about the payment system and its accuracy.
A few days ago I headed to Mecca mall, to sort it out. After receiving irrational explanations of what’s going on, I decide it’s time to pull out the sore tooth. So I told the sales rep, I want to end my subscription what needs to be done.
Here is the conversation:
Sales Rep: “if you want to end your subscription you need to bring the modem, and you will have to pay 89JD.” I’m like “89JD what for.” He replies “it’s a fine because your subscription ends on June 13th 2010.” Me, “What my subscription was on August 20th 2008, it finishes on August 20th 2009!!!” He responds, “No, when we upgraded your account, and paid by credit card, that form you signed is dated June 13th 2009.” I could almost hear his inner voice say to me “hehehe, you got punked!”I’m like “No way, none of you informed me that you changed the date of subscription, YOU upgraded your speeds, not me, no one informed me?”
After a few grunts I headed home, not only confused but betrayed, because they didn’t inform me about this change. When I reached home still fuming in anger, something crossed my mind. If my new subscription date is the 13th of June then my next payment is on July 13th not June 20th, makes sense doesn’t it.
So again why did they disconnect me on the 24th????? I called again, and told them about my point, there answer was “we disabled your account because we don’t take pre-paid cards.” I said “what about my money, what happened to the subscription I paid?” She told me that I have 31JD, to my account and I need to go to the show room and give them a non-pre-paid card.
So again I went to Mecca mall, and to be honest I didn’t want to pay with my credit card, not after all this mess. So I told him that I will pay by cash. Surprisingly he says “If you do, you will need to sign a new form, and if you pay in cash you will loose the 31jd!” I’m like loose the 31jd, why?? He says because when you initiated the credit card payments, we took the insurance money you paid when you first made your subscription and transferred it into your account.”
Huh? You mean that the 31jd was the insurance money, where’s the money I paid on the 13th?? He said, “that was paid for May’s subscription!!” Huhh?? What the @#$@# is going on here.
Yes I’m sure you are confused as hell as I am. If I end my subscription, I have to pay 89jd because my new contract somehow became 13th of June 2009 and ends on the 13 of june 2010. Yes the same contract, which proves my next payment is on July 13th, and that my account shouldn’t have been disconnected on the 24th. Which proves I should have 31jd in my account. The same 31jd, which I will loose if I pay in cash because that was insurance money, transferred to my account.
I couldn’t care less about the 31jd, nor the 89jd I will pay to end my subscription, because I’m going to consider the 120jd, a well-paid encouragement to inform all my friends, neighbors, and strangers that wi-tribe has issues beyond human comprehension. And trust me word-of-mouth is power.
Now, does anybody have anything nice to say about Internet providers to boost my morale so I can subscribe to their services????

I’ll tell all my friends
so far this my 4th year “i think” with Te DATA and they are pretty good , i was thinking to switch for another provider just for the wireless but after watching the difficulties my friends faced using Umnia umax and now wi-tribe in addition to the hight prices for kulakum im satisfied with my provider ..
Hi, This is the first comment in your blog …
Well, my friend … first of all … sorry for your losses .. second thing, how come they didn’t mention all of that in the contract. If you know a good lawyer you can sue the hell of them!
Shit, I can’t believe that. Plus, it’s funny to hear about the inability to pay by credit card or even to know that 3G is still not yet implemented in Jor !!! oops
