I went to this new supermarket next to my place, to find it filled with imported chocolate that looked like Galaxy but is called Dove, and is also from Mars snackfood, USA.
It turns out that outside the USA the Dove brand is sold as Galaxy (except for certain countries, including China, Canada, Australia, Germany, Greece, and the Netherlands, where it is sold as Dove). Thanks wikipedia.

yeah, i was talking with american “friends” here about this, and apparently they have never of Galaxy, neither Maltezers, they barley recognize Merinda, and have a dozen other delicious products with different name brands, except the manufacturer owners is so cheap, they barley change anything else than the name, the colors, packaging, fonts, and even some ad’s
on another issue, i would just advice not to believe everything you read on Wikipedia, summarizing tons of history, data and books into big headlines losses credibility in between, knowledge doesn’t go with fast food, it needs time!

And how come they don’t have maltesers… I heard chocolates in the US suck… The British are the kings of chocolate…

As much as I love Dove, after having Galaxy I can say it does not compare. American chocolate is terrible. I can barely eat Dove now because it is a poor substitute for Galaxy. In this US either because of laws about preservatives or just because this is the way they do things: manufacturers add wax to chocolates in order to keep them from melting. Alas this prevents them from being as creamy or as delicious as Galaxy.
I think this may be another reason they can’t sell Galaxy here. Or maybe they can’t sell it in US because Dove is already sold here and if the two candies are sold in the same country they will explode (you know, issues of molecular identity and whatnot, can’t be in the same place at the same time).
But if anyone every could import this stuff and Americans REALLY knew what they had been missing all along, you would make amazing amounts of money.
