Jordanian Artists #4: Akheer Zapheer

Photo by Hiba Judeh, following up with my continuous posts about Jordanian hidden artists/talents.
Akher Zapheer آخر زفير is a local band playing music influenced by a mixture of rock, grunge and punk. The band consists of 4 members, Basem Sayej (Lead singer, Guitar), Salem Dallal (Guitar), Mohammed Awwad (Bass) and Kayed Qnaibi (Drums).
Their music is similar to and influenced by Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Tool, Muse, Placebo, Radiohead & Silverchair. which is good thing, we need such bands in the Arabic music scene and I have to say that I’m really glad that Jordan has many good underground bands that can compete with the rest of the Middle East and win. I was shocked to find out that something else is doing like what I did (My new bands plays Placebo and Muse in Arabic, we’re called Placeuse).
What I like about them is their constant try of making their music “work” as in get spread, their first official single “Hob Ayam Zaman” is an amazing approach, I’m addicted to the song, reminds me Radiohead for some reason! I personally loved it.
I personally recommend downloading/listening to the song, Click here.

Nice, nice.. more jordanian bands/artists in the “Alternative” scene!! Btw, nice job with the new design, mabrook!!
First of all i got to congratulate you on the new theme,This way much better then the design before,Great work Moey.
about Akheer Zapheer , Really interesting , I might give them a try after all , and i really really love the picture for them , This is a awesome location , everything in the photograph is just awesome,Does hiba judeh have a flickr account ?.
Great! I loved the song, But the vocalist needs to work a bit on staying in tune, and I absolutely loved the very last part of the song… and if they even make some heavier stuff it would be amazing! I’ll be checking for more…
And for the design, man you surprise me every time, EVERY SINGLE TIME…
“Great work” is an understatement Moey.
Mabrook

I’ll download the song and I really appreciate the fact that we’re growing our own local music, albeit most of it is in “East-West Mix” status and we need to grow some more and develop a unique touch. Ya3teehom el 3afyeh every one of them.
My only note here is the names of these bands,”jadal” “sign of thyme” “akher zafeer” “rum”… seriously, what’s up with that? They all sound like they’re trying so very hard to be alternative, why can’t they come up with like normal names that don’t have grandesque connotations and stuff?
Maybe I’m being picky, but that’s what I think. Names matter.
Thats a great song, I liked it…but nothing new still Jadal band has been doing it for a long time.. Anyway hope to hear more of this =)
Thanks everyone for the comments, Tololy I agree… the names are just too alternative, but on the brighter side… the music makes it up.
