Urgent Update: some random commenter (may I say?) left a comment asking me to show what I can do, here’s something I did in a few minutes (I didn’t have the original layout so sorry If there were any mistakes, redid the layout on illustrator, curves are 0.2cm, the font used is aXt Marwan Light for Arabic -not the Zain font-, aligned to left with the Zain logo and used Gill Sans for English):

Publicis Graphics, one of my favorite advertising agencies in Jordan, handling the Zain account, please unleash your creativity, I understand that the guideline is strict and the logo is not that nice but look at what JWT is doing with Zain Bahrain and Kuwait, the advertisements are really good, the only thing I saw in Jordan was the global campaign that included photos/images of people and words, such as a kid riding his elder brother and the ad says My Bicycle, or Darrajati in Arabic.
I’ll leave you with Zain Kuwait and Bahrain ads:

Jordan’s ads are just text, text, text and TEXT!
Publicis, Do something (Popeye’s wife Olive attitude)!
Update, even Zain Sudan ads are not bad.

Ana Garfan: What Grinds my Gears? .............(Inspired by Peter from Family Guy) added these pithy words on Mar 20 08 at 10:06 amOK, can we see Zain Jordan’s ads?
And by the way, not just because they all have the same name they will be the same. Think of it that way, each of the individual companies were in the same group before they had the same name, and yet their brands were different and their ads were different too. The only thing that has changed is them all getting one name.
Its true that they have to live up to the name with the ads, but it doesn’t always work that way.
Look for example at Etisalat UAE and Egypt. UAE’s ads are crappy, Egypt’s ads are way better (speaking of printed ads). They don’t match the competitor’s ads although their offers are way better, but their TV ads and how they present their website is fine, and thats OK. But coming down to the brand and how they represent it, SUCKS!! The slogan is cheesy and even the theme music they have is just lame. And those are one company, they weren’t separate and then they got united.
And Zain Sudan, not bad but insanely colorful with too much silhouettes involved, but they’re decent.
And another thing, just wait for Zain KSA to launch and you will take a look at some of the lamest ads you can ever imagine…
Some pointless ones and some funny and the propaganda going in to make you call shameful
thnx for the share.
Moe Sam; Like I said, Jordan’s ads are just text, text, text and TEXT! Just a background color and text.
man disagree with you a bit of a point…the 1st global ad they made was one of the most creative ads ever…it was brilliant, the idea behind it was perfect for those who understood it…the second global ad wasn’t that attractive or creative..it wasn’t their best sequence…anyway I still find the ads above very innovative..thanks
I absolutely loved your ad! It’s a shame it isn’t official (it should be)! I would’ve preferred the model to be Middle Eastern though, that’s the only thing I’d change.
I like, like, like!

You one should be official, they might as well hire you. Although the girl looks polish , we can live with that

Do you use photoshop? Indesign or another?
Your lucky, i can only use Photoshop cs3, i just cant borther with Indesign and others. I used Indesign when i did work experience with Heat/Zoo/FHM (UK gossip mags) and it did my head in.
Add UK flag bro![]()
cool rainbows…but what happened to the screaming you-know-who?
I agree with you, enough with the solid color background and start doing something really creative.
I like the ad you did, but I can’t imagine zain doing something like this, it should be serious

Moey,
I like the add you did, but since you were discussing type, don’t you think that the tag line: سمعني شو عامل needs to be placed without the illustrations underneath it? the overlapping between the typography and the illustrations makes it a bit a hard to read from a distance .
I agree Heba, but that was just an example, I’d make them transparent gradients, after all it is a 10mins job ad.
Moey, yours is SO much better than their official ones. You’ve got the juice, man. Take over the world, one bad ad campaign at a time!
If you take a good look at zain’s ads everywhere… you can see that there’s no graphics at all. it’s only photos or a solid background with some text… i guess it’s a brand guideline.
My MAN, Your Ad is a miss
It only needs a clown to make it a good circus Ad
But you got 1 thing right, Publicis are not doing a good job for Zain’s account neither saathci & saatchi whom are working on the account 2, and trying to take it from Publicis (yes they are)
Anyway most of the people woking in advertising in Jordan don’t know what creative advertising is
Sad thing very sad
Anas, you have to learn how to spell a mess, miss!
Just wanted to say Kudos..some of the ads you’ve posted as examples are mine..Nice to see hard work recognised….BIG SMILE ON MY FACE…..=)
