Core 77’s posted a great “Ultimate Design Student Guide” with tips and tricks all design students graduates can relate to in the fields of the Classroom, Dorm Room, Represent, Crash Course, and the amazingly Cheat Sheet. designverb also blogged it. If your a newbie in design school you’ll be glad you learned these tricks the easy way.
Other tips by me:
- If you need to document a ton of sketches use your digital camera instead of a scanner… it’s much faster! and use it instead of writing things down.
- Try to come early to Art History classes, if you miss one you might need to copy others notes and so on.
- If you have free time on campus, use the internet, try to draw using your sketchbook.
- If ever considering a laptop/notebook, get a macbook. they’re easy to carry, and can accept windows operating systems and mac at the same time + they look neat.
- Don’t wear dishdashas, sandals to university nor shorts in most cases.
- Use a pen, carry a sketchbook around 24/7, colored markers or at least a black one, and for some buy that sweet portable metal Olfa blade or an art knife.
- Keep the following in your backpack, bag or man purse: band-aids, a small bottle of water, roll of toilet paper, ipod, too many markers, too many rolls of magic/various tapes, toolbox, a pack of cherry halls.
- Get a Flickr account, document all!
- Start your own blog!
