How lame can Showtime Arabia get? almost everything on showtime plays on mbc 4, one tv and mbc action. and also channels are disappearing from showtime from time to time and being replaced by crap, then after a while they pop-up on orbit.

That’s true everything Showtime airs is aired on the MBC network … but like a YEAR later! Showtime will still air Jay Leno. Whatever MBC and Orbit do, Showtime will still be way ahead of the game. And come on, how old are the movies on MBC? Don’t they remind you of your childhood? And Orbit keeps repeating movies till you get sick and tired of them!
Showtime baught the exclusive rights to air Heroes a year ahead of any next station(s). Showtime is about to air the 3rd season of Lost, while MBC is still in the first season!
There’s no space for comparison. Whatever the other stations do, Showtime will stay ahead of all of them, they have the widest client base for a paid TV service in the Arab region. Look at the continuous updates Showtime keeps bringing. Also, the service they provide is unparalleled, my decoder was playing weird on me once, they changed the very next day.
I for one tried both networks, Orbit and Showtime. And trust me my friend, Orbit is nowhere close to Showtime at this time. And don’t get me started with advertisements on MBC!
They really don’t suck at all, I’d highly recommend them!

Been a showtimer for eons. Going down hill. Since i had the showbox installed theres been so many mistakes. Program timing out. Wrong programs showing. Live sport cut off because of time overun. Repetition of the same episode parts then cut off at time out.
All i get when i complain is “It is out of our control”. Whats the point of pre timed recording if you come home to find half episodes, wrong programs or nothing. Come on Showtime. Get your act together or more of us will move elsewhere.

i’ve installed showtime showbox few weeks ago ..and it’s going nuts !! .. the local time and the date are so weird (1970!!!) .. and i have no clue how to fix it … i tried thier manual, searched the net .. but i got NOTHING !!! .. why the heck when i try to set the local time .. it shifts within 30 min!! .. why is it that much complicated ..that’s no entertainment .. my brain is so twisted now :S

Note only showtime and Orbit but ART too, what a waste of money, starworld , starmovies, artmovies really suck, they air really silly B rate movies and the repetition is a killer 10++++++ times a month, not to mention the timing of the kids movies late nights and silly 80’s movies in the morning and not to mention Film 1 and Film 2, its a lucky night when they dont air black and white movies witch take 50 percent , 1960-1990’s movies 40 percent and 20 percent really bad movies, and Hkyat airs all the bad egyptian series of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s and how we can forget the kids channel what a laugh, OLD! The thing I really hate about showtime is those jarring images that kick off their commercials. Just when you get into a movie or a ballgame they flash this horrendous bouncing ball image on a bright white background, with some equally annoying sound effects.
Its harsh, distracting and visually annoying.
You’d have to be 12 years old to find that crap amusing. I really hate it. I find myself holding the remote all during a movie – anticiapating the commercial break just so I can hit the mute button.

Showtime scedules is the worse ever. The repeats is just killing me. Children movies at night well I simply do not understand as there is 4 chanels dedicated for children. Repeats of shows 2 or somtimes 3 times before a new series start. Getting worse by the day.

Showtime is pretty awful. If only it had BBC Prime on there! I just watch football on Saturdays really, but the rest of it is AWFUL!
And shere haves Al Jazeera PLUS1 and PLUS2 gone? Even if you can’t speak Arabic, they show all the International Football and now they have vanished!
Showsports have NO commentary on the rugby either.
MBC is equally as good. And if you can speak Arabic, why bother? There are a million free channels on the Public NileSat.
If anyone from Showtime reads this post, these are the channels you should get for English speaking viewers: VH1 Classic, BBC Prime and Eurosport.
And one more thing. Anyone who pays Showtime for movies is destroying their local video and DVD store. Don’t buy movies! It puts people out of work.

Oh – and another thing! Has anyone had direct debit problems with Showtime? I frequently get charged twice a month, or charged TOO much, then when I phone Global Direct in Kuwait, no one picks up the phone. The public service really is a joke.
If only the sport was better on Orbit, I would ditch Showtime like a shot. But who wants to watch American College Baseball anyway? Get some WORLD sport on there!! Football, rugby, tennis and cricket WITH ENGLISH STUDIO COMMENTARY. If only Orbit did this, I’d happily go back to them!

I agree with the opening statement. What a boring load of dated rubbish they show. Unfortunately if you live in UAE then you take it or leave it. The country may be up there with some things but 20 years behind with customer service. What really bugs me is theway chanels and times are changed willy nilly with no thought whatsover to advising the customer of such changes.

And Haider, I don’t care how many studios Showtime have if they are still showing rubbish. There is so much dead weight American rubbish on Showtime.
And forget these silly sports like American Football shown in the middle of the night! Cricket is watched by MILLIONS across the world, and Showtime has none of it. Do people in the Middle East actually want to stay up all night to wait for NFL games? We would be better of watching test cricket from India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, which is only 2 or 3 hours ahead of the Middle East timezones. Come on Showtime, wake up to reality here….

My Showtime actually went off last week, as there was a problem with my dish. I called Global Direct in Kuwait – and I managed to actually speak to a human being for a change. I was told that I had to wait a whole week before an engineer came out….thanks guys….
So, with my basic smattering of Arabic, I said “Shoonu hatha? Come on habeebi, do me a favour?’ Hey presto! I was then told an engineer would be sent out within 48 hours! Oh to learn few words….
Anyway, the engineer turned up ON TIME and was fantastic. Job done in 20minutes!
If only the Showtime Kuwait office staff and programme schedulers in Dubai could be as good. Why don’t they get their backsides in gear, and realise that the entire Showtime experience is going rapidly downhill?
And another thing – Showtime DOES have Jazeera Sports 1 and 2, if not PLUS1 and PLUS2.
But do they tell you what’s on these channels? OF COURSE NOT!
Why doesn’t someone who reads and speaks Arabic at Showtime actually tell us non-Arabic speakers (or especially readers, which includes many of my Arab friends!) what international football is on these channels? I might just then think a lot more highly of them. But these channels (like MBC2 and MBC4!) do not even get a scheduling list in Showtime monthly guide!
Fans of international football may wish to check out this site http://www.liveonsat.com which does tell you (in English) what games are on JS1 and Js2. Alternatively, you could get one of your Arabic speaking friends to take a look at the Jazeera Sports website to tell you. Or thirdly, like me, you could try and learn some Arabic! Humdulilhah!

why would any program manager think that Kids Co is better than the old showkids ? no more barney no more postman pat no more blues clues no more dora no more thomas no more noddy, telle tubies etc, basically no more tv for those between 1 and 3 years old! while this a good thing I am sure mothers with subscriptions to showtime are quite furious as i am and i know at least a couple who are too! please please bring the old programs back older children have 2 other channels and showkids was the only one with the programs for the youngest ones!

Mary …. the reason Showtime replaced the programming on Showkids is that Nickelodeon will go live within 2008 under the name of Nickelodeon Arabia so instead of having both of them on Nilesat only Nickelodeon Arabia will be on Nilesat and Showtime added Kids Co to have an entertaining content side by side with what will be aired on Nickelodeon Arabia as educational content

Showtime Arabia is begging to lose it’s popularity . 2 years ago I was dying to watch Showtime channels, but now I canceled my showtime arabia subscription and subscribed to orbit. Channels included on the Orbit Network and NOT INCLUDED ON SHOWTIME ARABIA: Discovery Channel Middle East, Discovery Travel & Living Europe, Toon Disney, Playhouse Disney, Trace TV, Soundtrack Channel and XLNT radio channels. But I do agree the Showbox is one big waste of money…
Orbit has now also officially lost Orbit ESPN to ART, wow now there is really no point what-so-ever of continuing their crappy service. No ambition at all with the Orbit management.

Let’s face it, beyond America, who is the slightest bit interested in watching American Football? Its like saying “I want Ice Hockey on Showtime because its big in Canada”, or “I want Skiing shown because its big in Switzerland.”
Cricket on the other hand is a “world” sport (unlike baseball’s “world” series in which, hmmm, only one country plays).
So please, as boring as you Americans find it, please understand that far more people watch cricket than (YOUR VERSION OF AMERICAN) football and “Overpaid Rounders”, sorry, Baseball.
There is far too much American programming on Showtime anyway. Endless hours of “showy” dramas and American humour on ShowComedy channels.
So its about time Showtime started understanding all this. No Champions League, no FA Cup matches, no international Football, no internatioal Athletics or Tennis tournaments like Wimbledon or the US Open. And yet they boast four Sports Channels! Come on Showtime, its SHOCKING!

First of all I am not an Amercian. Secondly American Football is a sport growing in popularity within the region and as a result all the major networks last season were broadcasting live games from the NFL season.

Well.. I’m subscribed to all these channels and let me tell ya, each one has its advantages and disadvantages. However, if you are looking for a good combination of programs then Showtime is the best to me. And by the way, a lot of people watch the NFL, NBA and college football and basketball and they are not even American and I’m one. Actually, I subscribe right away whenever there is a channel showing American football. I watch regular football as well and Aljazeera is the best since now they’re getting the Champions League as well.

Showtime does not Rock. Both it, and ART, are seriously lacking.
May 24th was the biggest club game in European Rugby, Munster v Toulouse and there was not a sniff of it on Showtime Sports. Still, they’ll show you the London Sevens or Division Three Football Play Off (half empty Wembley), if anyone is slightly interested in it.
No FA Cup final either or Champions League Final this month.
“For Champions League, you must get ART,” Showtime tell you. BUT WHY??? Is there anything else on ART actually worth watching?
If you live in the Middle East, you may as well wire up a 42E dish for TurkSat with FTA decoder. You could get Champions League FOR FREE on the Star Turkey channel (albeit in Turkish) without paying a monthly subscription!!!

And hey, Showtime also say “Get a Showbox – you can watch 1 channel and record from another at the same time!” BIG DEAL!!! I was doing this with 4 channels on my analogue TV 25 years ago with a VCR!!!
All sat boxes should be fitted with this as standard. TV viewers could always watch one channel and record from another. It was digital satellite companies who stopped us doing it, and now they tell us that they are doing us a big favour by giving us the right back!!!

To be honest, Showtime is sucking day by day. You know how those pre-recorded shows you get on TV when going on a cruise? That’s how Showtime feels now. I’ve seen Goal more than 5 times this week and I’m sick of it! I’m sick of watching Flyboys, The Golden Door, and movies I’ve never heard of! The only good shows on Showcomedy is My Family and it isn’t that great either. Where’d “My Name Is Earl” gone too? AND I’M ALSO SICK AND TIRED OF REPEATS!

Guys, i just read on other websites comments from the people who have Orbit… and they seem to think that Orbit sucks and they want Showtime! so technically, everyone with orbit wants showtime and everyone with showtime wahts orbit!! It’s true that you can’t have everything on tv… this is what makes each network unique… i’ve tried both networks and i concluded the showtime is better in movies and series but orbit is better in kids and sports (when espn was present)… so each one has its own gd and bad things… but overall, i think showtime is way better because when i had orbit, i used to have alot of problems… ya it’s a good point where’s my name is earl and other gd shows? well we have to wait and c!!:P

Further to this web site appearing two or so years ago, it appears that Showtime is gradually improving its programming quality. The football coverage is now excellent, although some International Football would be nice as well! European Heineken Cup Rugby is the one area where sports could be better, but its good to see some minority sports, like darts and snooker, get a look in as well.
The one area where Showtime MUST improve is BBC programming. The BBC Lifestyle channel (basically BBC Food + those two awful women Trinny and Susannah – do any men actually watch this channel?) keeps advertising BBC Entertainment as ‘coming in 2009.’ Certain people I know have contacted Shwotime to see if this channel will be added to the package. Showtime’s answer: “No.”
Get real Showtime. You can’t only give us half the deal.

As of March 1st 2009, Showtime finally has BBC Prime on there – yes, some English language alternative shows to watching American TV.
Showtime just need to get hold of the UEFA Champions League now and it’s a done job.

Showtime Arabia is THE WORST pay TV service ever!
Have you noticed that their website has been DOWN FOR OVER A MONTH NOW! Try going to their website and you will never get through!Also, have you seen the outdated crap they show as part of their Show Comedy: “Coach”!! (hahah! only people who are over 60 want to watch outdated American sit coms like Coach) and even people in the US don’t watch it.
Then they also show crap like “Will & Grace”! Again outdated show no one is really interested in. You see Showtime Arabia keeps charging us VERY HIGH prices and gets very cheap program rights from US for stupid shows like Ally McBeal, Will & Grace, Coach, etc. They are fooling us relying on the fact that Middle Eastern viewers are ignorant!And now I have to put up with clips of silly Indian movies on their “international channels”. If I wanted Indian programs, then I would have subscribed to Indian channels, and not “Showtime Arabia”

Orbit Showtime are NOT showing the Six Nations Rugby this season, 2010.
We have the luxury of watching men in leotards wrestling each other in WWE Smackdown on Showsports 4, while perhaps the second biggest rugby tournament in the world after the World Cup is overlooked.
Don’t these clowns get it? For the past five years, I have paid a subscription to watch the rugby and now they take it OFF. And it was only ever a FEED from the Free-To-Air BBC anyway.
What is their logic? Who picks their sports schedules? Major rugby sidelined again for overpaid muscle men entertaing the under 10s.
Showtime – bring back the Six Nations and ADD the Heineken Cup!!!
